MEET MIKE
The Person Behind Mike Drop Productions
I’m Mike, the owner and DJ behind Mike Drop Productions. I started the company in 2017 and have since worked across weddings, corporate functions, graduations, sporting events, public events, and celebrations throughout Saskatchewan and Western Canada.
I’m involved in the complete event experience, including planning, music preparation, MC work, equipment, communication, and the decisions that need to be made while the event is happening.
My approach is straightforward: understand the event, communicate clearly, keep everything moving, and choose music for the people who are actually in the room.

THE STORY
How Mike Drop Productions Began
I started DJing in 2017 because the entertainment at family events always seemed to follow the same pattern: someone sitting behind a laptop on a table, playing music, and barely engaging with the crowd. I felt the DJ should be more involved in the event, not just control the playlist.
I began with a few grad parties for friends, followed by a small family gathering. Not long after, a friend I worked with was getting married. I asked him and his fiancée to give me a chance. They came to watch me DJ one of the grads, liked what they saw, and trusted me with their wedding.
That wedding became the turning point. It was the first wedding I ever DJed, and the photo beside this story was taken that night. By the end of it, I knew this was something I wanted to take seriously.
Since then, Mike Drop Productions has grown far beyond those first events, but the reason I started still shapes how I work today. I do not want to be the DJ who disappears behind a laptop. I want to be present, engaged, prepared, and actively helping the event move in the right direction.
WHAT STILL GUIDES THE COMPANY
Three Principles That Shape Every Event
Be Present
Engage with the event rather than disappearing behind the equipment. The strongest events happen when the DJ is aware of the room and actively involved.
Prepare Thoroughly
Understand the schedule, music, people, and responsibilities before the event begins so every part of the celebration can run smoothly.
Adapt to the Room
Respond to the crowd, timing, and atmosphere instead of forcing a predetermined plan. Every event requires different decisions.
